Shells Shaded in Shadows by Charlotte Force

Shells shaded in shadows

Darkness of light from land

Not-native to the shell’s home,

Where undulating waves of water-luminosity

Unreliably illuminate details

As if they’re only a possibility

Lamp-light, fixed in its accuracy,

Defines the shell-space of the lost-and-found object

Down to whatever becomes negative in this captured space

But, remaining beautiful, hopefully,

To the eyes of the land-dwelling,

Sea-beholding beholder.
