The Tempest by Ruby Kahn

Ghostly sheets of the fallen sky
Smother the residue of days gone by
Branches conspire in the wake of dawn
Haunted by actions the tempest brought on:

A foreboding warmth traverses the sky
Causing a breath of frost to glide by
A glacial gale sweeps over the pines
Woodland was always the first to decline

Order gives way to the tides of fear
A whirlwind of clamor takes over the atmosphere
All that once was, drowned in the tempest’s plight
One could never conceive a world so white
